Assessment details:

You are part of the Senior Management Team for an Australian or Foreign company specialising in a product. Your organisation is about to expand into a new country from the one you are based. You will be provided with a list of countries and products to choose. Please note the country you examine cannot be a country that you are from. For example, if you are from Sri Lanka, you cannot choose an expansion to Sri Lanka.

In this assessment task, you will research and discuss the following:

  • The country/region specific factors that your team will be taking into account; the industry specific factors that need to be taken into account; the cultural factors that need attention in the expansion project. You might want to cover issues such as legal/regulatory, political risk, cultural nuances, entry/importation policies and procedures, competitive nature of industry, suppliers/channels of entry, tariffs/taxes etc.
  • Conduct research on product you are about to enter the foreign market
  • Identify the opportunities for the product to enter the foreign market


Assessment Task 2: Class presentation on Global marketing plan

A presentation should be made during the class in week 5. Slides for the presentation should be submitted online through the MKT5961 Moodle site.

Assessment details:

Using your findings from Assessment Task 1, you are required to develop a global marketing plan for your assigned country and product. This class presentation requires students investigate, analyse and synthesise complex information relating to a global marketplace scenario. They will need to justify their approach to their marketing plan to their peers.

Your presentation should cover, but not limited to, the following points:

  • Country analysis
  • Economic analysis
  • Product analysis
  • Market audit and competitive market analysis
  • Preliminary global marketing plan: local partners, mode of entry, positioning, marketing mix, methods to manage, measure and control the global marketing effort


Assessment Task 3: Written Report on Global Marketing Plan

Assessment details:

Students will prepare a detailed report of their global marketing pan based on the preliminary plan presented in Assessment Task 2. In doing so, students will apply their technical and communication skills to design, evaluate and implement a successful global marketing plan.

The Global marketing plan should discuss in detail all key points presented in Assessment Task 2. Do not repeat information being discussed in Assessment Task 1. Where it is needed, a summary of country/product discussion is required.
