You will receive your feedback within two (2) weeks,and you will be notified by your trainer/assessor when your results are available. You must attempt all activities of the project for your trainer/assessor to assess your competence in this assessment task.

The purpose of this assessment task is to assess the student’s knowledge and skills essential to manage environmental management practices and processes in building and constructionin a range of contexts and industry settings. Skills to Analyse the potential impact of current changes in environmental legislation or regulations on the organisation. Skills to using best practices and benchmarking methods, assess current environmental management performance. Skills to analyse project requirements in light of environmental responsibilities. Skills to using the information available, create an environmental management plan. Skills to as needed, seek senior management advice on how to carry out the plan. Skills to inform employees and contractors of their responsibilities to follow the environmental plan. Skills to check on staff and contractor compliance with the environmental plan’s implementation. Skills to manage the effectiveness and precision of environmental data collection systems. Skills to examine a new project to see how it will affect existing environmental planning obligations. Skills to in cases where the plan necessitates ongoing external monitoring or oversight, contact local authorities and regulatory bodies. Skills to staff and stakeholders should be kept up to date on any changes to the environmental management plan. Skills to maintain organisational compliance, manage and evaluate the environmental management plan, as well as track changing circumstances. Skills to manage organisational feedback systems to aid in plan conformance. This is an individual assessment. The purpose of this assessment task is to plan and implement effective environmental practices and processes and manage improvements of environmental issues on a residential building and commercial construction project.The student must asess the environmental legislation, regulations, codes, standards and requirements to perform the activities specified in the assessment task. The student must manage the various aspects of the construction.The trainer/assessor must allocate a supervisor that will observe the student completing the activities. The trainer/assessor must assess the performance as per the performance criteria and checklist provided.

Assessment Task 2: Skills Test

Skills Test:

This CPCCBC5011 Manage environmental practices in construction Assessment task requires the student to plan and implement effective environmental practices and processes and manage improvements of environmental issues for a residential building and construction project.

This includes CPCCBC5011 Manage environmental practices in construction Assessment as

  • Determining the impact of environmental legislation on the project
  • Researching current trends in environmental management and controls
  • Assessing the recording and reporting system’s effectiveness and efficiency
  • Measuring and dealing with non-conforming practices and improving performance.
  • Managing organisational improvement processes to reduce environmental risk and non-conformance.

Note:

  • The training organisation must arrange for a residential building and commercial construction project.
  • The residential and commercial construction assigned to the student must be of same complexity.

To plan and implement effective environmental practices and processes and manage improvements of environmental issues for a residential building and construction project, you are required to complete the following activities:

  • Prepare an organisational environmental management plan.
  • Activity 2: Manage environmental management plan implementation.
  • Activity 3: Monitor organisational legal obligations.
  • Activity 4: Review environmental management plan.

Instructions for trainer/assessor:

  • The trainer/assessor must assign a supervisor to each student or take on the role of Supervisor.
  • The trainer/assessor must arrange a worksite for the student to carry out the specified project.
  • The workplace must be:
    • An actual workplace
    • A close simulation of the workplace environment provided that simulated or project-based assessment techniques replicate construction workplace conditions, materials, activities, responsibilities and procedures

Note: The requirements for a simulated workplace environment are given below.

The Supervisor or trainer/assessor must ensure that the simulated workplace environment requirements.

  • The structure must be a residential building and construction project.
  • The worksite must meet the requirements given in the ‘Simulated workplace environment requirements’ section given below.
  • The trainer will supervise/observe the work by standing near the working location and evaluate your performance based on performance checklist benchmarks.

Instructions for the student:

  • The student will be required to bring all necessary PPEs required to complete this activity.
  • The student must follow the instructions provided by the Supervisor.
  • The student must complete the activities specified.

Simulated workplace environmentrequirements

The trainer/assessor or training organisation is required to provide a workplace or a close simulation of the workplace environment to replicate workplace conditions, materials and equipment, interactions with others and workplace irregularities, and which meets industry standards for safety and environmental practices to each student.

The training organisation will take you to the location of the construction worksite.

Further, the training organisation must ensure the construction site must meet the requirements given in the table below.

The training organisation must arrange a residential building and construction project for the student.

The worksite must have realistic tasks or simulated tasks, relevant specifications and work instructions, standard work practices, safety requirements and environmental constraints. 
The training organisation must provide the student with the plans, specifications and drawings of the worksite. 
The site and its surroundings are accessible and clear of hazards, so far as reasonably practicable. 
The site must have realistic workplace conditions, standards, materials, activities, responsibilities, procedures, safety requirements, and environmental considerations. 
An experienced employee is available to provide adequate guidance and supervision to less experienced employees. 
The students have the clothing and footwear required. In addition, the clothing and footwear are in good condition and suitable for the task.
