Task 3 requires you to create a mind map to brainstorm and record some cultural groups that you identify with and to describe your interpretation of the group’s cultural expressions, beliefs, values, norms, ways of knowing and learning these and those expressions, beliefs, values, norms that you continue to uphold.
The mind map is not submitted, however, you are required to draw on the information in the mind map to complete the ‘4R’s structured reflection framework’, which does need to be submitted via Canvas.
To commence, review your Learning Materials from Week 9, including the meaning of culture, cultural safety, and cultural self-awareness and your responses to the workshop activities – particularly the ‘Worksheet: Exploring your cultural self’ which provided prompting questions that you could use to brainstorm your mind map.
You can create your mind map in any way that suits you. You can use a pen and paper or software or whatever means you feel most comfortable with. The following image provides an example of a mind map.
