Assessment Task 4 Instructions
Carefully read the following:
The hotel has now been operational for a year. Thanks to attractive branding and the effective use of social media, the hotel has been booked solidly since it opened. Its Facebook page has a loyal following and its Twitter account has several thousand followers. Brand awareness among the identified target market is high, as several online booking agents have featured the hotel on their websites. Most of the hotel’s bookings are through its website, however. Six months after the opening, the hotel was featured in the local newspaper, and then in a travel magazine. It has developed a good reputation and high visibility quite quickly. The first monthly profit was made in the third month of opening. Three family members work full-time at the hotel and another six work there part-time. Team morale is high, with every team member enjoying their job. The family has had an offer to purchase the hotel for almost double their financial investment in it, but they are not interested in selling it. They are having too much fun. At the most recent monthly family get together there was some discussion about the feedback the hotel has received on their social media sites. Originally, many family members were involved in answering feedback and moderating posts, but there was a lot of trolling following the magazine article, and several people were too offended to continue performing the task. Currently, only the (non-family member) receptionist is game to filter through the posts. The family decided that they would prefer to close down their social media sites and rely on the bookings made through the website. |
Complete the following activities:
Write a Marketing Plan Evaluation Report. You have been asked to write a report for the hotel on the marketing strategies you developed and how effectively they achieved the company’s business goals. Review your Marketing Plan and evaluate it for the following: Consistency with the hotel’s overall marketing directionThe level of exposure it has generated for the hotelTarget market penetrationWhether it proved to be cost effective in terms of financial and human resourcesWhether it was completed within the established timeframe Then recommend at least two changes to the marketing strategy that should be made in response to the family’s requests at the most recent monthly meeting. Use Evaluation Report Template to guide your work |
Close the hotel’s Facebook page To implement the agreed changes to the hotel’s social media presence, you are required to close down the Facebook page you created in Assessment Task 3. When you have removed the page, take a screen shot that verifies this. Save the screen shot as Facebook Removal Screen Shot. |
Open a Twitter account for the hotel To implement the agreed changes to the hotel’s social media presence, you are required to close down the Twitter account you created in Assessment Task 3. When you have closed the account, take a screen shot that verifies this. Save the screen shot as Twitter Removal Screen Shot. |
Send an email to the owners (your assessor). The text of the email should be in grammatically correct English, written in an appropriate (polite, business-like) style. It should summarise the marketing strategy evaluation report and ask for their feedback. The email text should also inform them of the changes you have made to the hotel’s social media presence.
