Your Task
Develop and deliver a presentation in-class with supporting slides on a business communication topic.
Assessment Description
Presenting information to verbally to groups with visual aids is a fundamental business skill. The Learning Outcomes you will demonstrate in performing this assessment include:
LO1: | Employ the principles of communication to develop strategies to overcome barriers to communication. |
LO2: | Relate the ways culture influences communication and affects meaning to a business context. |
LO3: | Apply professional written communication skills to a range of contexts. |
LO4: | Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate with diverse groups. |
LO5: | Demonstrate professional oral communication strategies for a range of organisational communication events. |
Assessment Instructions
- 1. Attend your Week 5 and Week 10 workshops and participate in class activities to further develop your presentation skills.
- 2. Prepare a presentation accompanied by 3-5 slides based on the topic of Assertive Communication, or Active Listening Skills, or Non-verbal Communication, or Intercultural Communication, including:
- i. An overview of the chosen topic and relevant theory
- ii. The reason you chose the topic
- Real-life examples of the relevant theory being applied in the workplace
- iv. One new practice you wish to apply to your business career
- 3. Include a minimum of four references in your slides following the Kaplan Harvard style.
- 4. Submit your Slide Deck to MyKBS in Week 11 and deliver your presentation in Week 12.

Submissions that exceed the word limit by more than 10% will cease to be marked from the point at which that limit is exceeded.
